Midrand High to host spring festival

MIDRAND – In September, community members are invited to attend Midrand High School's spring sports festival.

Midrand High School will host its annual spring sports festival on 24 September to raise money for the school’s sports department.

Sports administrator of the school, Kwazi Shangase, said the community is invited to set up stalls at the school at R350 per stall.

Shangase said, “Our main sports on the day will include netball, soccer and volleyball games where the school’s houses will compete against each other.

“We need kit for the sports department and to take pupils on sports tours. The money raised will go to that. Last year, we managed to raise R30 000 during the spring festival and used the money for [certain] needs within the department.”

He added that sports tours inspire pupils to pursue sports more, but when there are no funds it becomes difficult to keep them interested.

“Some of our pupils come from previously disadvantaged families in Tembisa and can’t afford to pay for sporting activities, so raising funds for sports is critical.”

Shangase said Dj Lebza will provide entertainment on the day.
