Brothers murdered in Glen Austin

GLEN AUSTIN - Two brothers from Glen Austin were shot and killed during a house robbery.

Midrand police officers are investigating the incident which took place on 30 July.

Speaking anonymously to Midrand Reporter, the mother of the deceased young men said her family is devastated by the murders.

She revealed that her sons had stayed up late that night and were killed watching TV. Towards midnight they stepped outside to smoke while their parents slept in one of the bedrooms. She said, “My sons, aged 33 and 36, still lived with us at home and on the day they were murdered I went to sleep early as I was ill. I heard my youngest son shouting and calling to his brother, then two shots rang out.”

She said she and her husband were too terrified to run out and check who fired the shots, but immediately called 10111.

“These criminals assessed my property through the back of the house and they cut the fence. My husband and I have not been back to our home yet, we are traumatised by the incident and are shocked at the way our sons died.”

The woman, who said she missed her sons a lot added, “My sons were close, they are still close even in death.” She said that the family does not yet know what was stolen on the day of the murders as they have not had a chance to go through the house and check, but they have noticed that one of their son’s cellphones is missing.

Midrand police are looking for the suspects.

Spokesperson for Midrand Police Station, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said, “No arrests have been made yet and we are looking for the suspects and ask anyone who might have information to contact police.”
