UPDATE: One critical after serious collision on Allandale

MIDRAND – A collision has taken place on Allandale Road and the K101 in Midrand.

UPDATE: 11.36am, 28 July – Emer-G-Med responded to the head-on collision just after 9am on the morning of 28 July.

On assessment, paramedics found two badly damaged vehicles lying in the intersection. They discovered that the driver of the bakkie was critically injured and trapped within the wreckage, having sustained serious injuries to his head and limbs.

Paramedics set about stabilising the patient, while the Midrand Fire Department used the “jaws of life” to cut him free from the vehicle. Once removed from the wreck, the patient was transported to to Tembisa Hospital under Advanced Life Support care.

Six other patients are reported to have sustained minor to moderate injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals.

JMPD were present to investigate the events surrounding the collision.

Emer-G-Med have reported that they are attending to a serious accident on Allandale Road in Midrand.

Paramedics are currently on the scene. Reports indicate that multiple people have been injured, with at least one person being in a critical condition while another is still trapped within the wreckage.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area and take alternative routes to avoid traffic delays.
