Wear slippers for a worthy cause

JOBURG - Reach For a Dream and Wimpy's Slipper Day will be held on 5 August.

Reach for a Dream and Wimpy will host their third annual Slipper Day on 5 August.

In order to support Slipper Day, South Africans can purchase a R10 Slipper Day sticker from Wimpy and that sticker will allow them to wear their slippers to work, school or anywhere else.

Wimpy has also pledged to reward all its costumers who arrive in-store with their slippers and Slipper Day sticker on 5 August with a free cup of regular coffee.

“We are happy to be part of the Slipper Day campaign again this year. It is an initiative that is very close to our hearts and it is a privilege for us as a group to be able to contribute to making the dreams of these children come true,” said Ayanda Peppeta, brand manager of Wimpy.

“Stickers sold through Wimpy in the past few years have resulted in more than R2 million raised for Reach For A Dream and the children they support, and we would like to continue to grow this amount every year.”

Reach For a Dream is an organisation which finds ways of making the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses memorable realities. Every 500 stickers bought on Slipper Day will be used by Reach For a Dream to fulfill one dream.

“Slipper Day funds and proceeds go towards putting a smile on our ‘Dream Children’s’ faces. Nothing makes us happier than fulfilling a dream and allowing for these children and their families to forget about their battle, even if it is just for five minutes,” said Bronwyn Feldwick-Davis, national marketing and communications manager of Reach For A Dream.
