New, independent soccer club

MIDRAND - The Summerhill Football Club, an independent club, aims to pull all soccer lovers together in a celebration of their passion for the sport.

The club, launched on 19 May, is the brainchild of Summerhill Preparatory School coaches Morgan Moodley, Thulani Mncube, Tristan Morris and Kegan Marais. In a statement, the coaches said the club has the sole purpose of satisfying the great demand for an independent club in Midrand.

Speaking on behalf of the club, a teacher at the school, Teressa Oates said, “The club welcomes all students from under nine years of age to seniors in the Midrand and surrounding areas to join the Summerhill Football Club and express their skills and love for soccer every week.

“Ultimately, we would like to see this independent club becoming a force to be reckoned with in the Soccer League.”

Skills development and training is held at the premises of Summerhill Preparatory School each Tuesday and Thursday from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
