Man arrested outside school with live ammo

MIDRAND – A man was arrested outside a school for possession of live ammunition.

 

Police officers recently arrested a man who was in possession of live ammunition outside a school.

Spokesperson for Ivory Park Police Station, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela said, “After conducting a search at a school in Midrand, we noticed a suspicious-looking man pass the school gate. The man was searched and we found two live rounds of ammunition in his pant’s pocket.” She said the suspect did not have a firearm on him and was arrested immediately and taken to Ivory Park Police Station’s cells.

He will appear in Tembisa Magistrates’ Court soon for possession of live ammunition.

At the school in Midrand, where police were conducting a routine search for dangerous weapons, drugs and dagga, they found a small plastic packet containing dagga, a box of matches and a syringe filled with an unidentified liquid abandoned outside a classroom.
