Court ruling against Zuma, a victory for the people of South Africa – MP Mackenzie

FOURWAYS - President Zuma to have his day in court.

Constituency MP, Cameron Mackenzie has hailed the Concourts’ recent setting aside of the decision by the NPA not prosecute President Jacob Zuma, as a victory for the people of South Africa.

The Democratic Alliance scored yet another political victory against Zuma after the courts agreed to the reinstatement of 783 charges for alleged corruption and money laundering. The landmark ruling of 29 March has literally cleared the way for Zuma’s prosecution, adding more headaches to Msholozi who is still writhing in pain after being condemned for failing to protect the Constitution of South Africa which he had sworn to uphold.

This after he ignored recommendations by then Public Protector Thuli Madonsela, to pay back the money spent on his Nkandla home for non-security features.

Today the arms deal ghost was resurrected by the courts to haunt him further.

“It shows that every South African, no matter how important, is equal before and subject to the rule of law,” said Mackenzie. The lawmaker called upon the NPA to immediately press ahead with the 783 charges and give President Zuma his day in court.

DA Leader Mmusi Maimane said, “Despite it being an absolute outrage that President Zuma has, for almost six years, used taxpayers’ money to bankroll his opposition to the release of the Spy Tapes, he will be held to account, as the law and due process demand.”

Maimane warned President Zuma against placing himself above the law. “President Zuma must finally come to the realisation that he is not above the law,” said Maimane.

Mackenzie invited South Africans to join the DA to stop corruption by voting the ANC government out. “The DA is committed to stopping corruption, and invites all South Africans to bring about the change needed to stop corruption in their municipality by voting for the DA on 3 August,” said Mackenzie.
