Summerhill galas go swimmingly

THREE Summerhill Preparatory School pupils competing as part of the Summerhill College swimming team against Cedarwood College, Hyde Park High and other schools, did well.

 

A teacher at the school, Teressa Oates, said the pupils put their hearts and souls into pushing the limits and winning at the swimming gala, and impressed with their efforts.

Three junior swimmers from Summerhill Preparatory School participated on behalf of Summerhill College.

These are the results:

q Jayden Larkins (13), placed fourth in the U15 200m individual medley.

q Mateo Losch (12), placed third in the U15 200m individual medley.

q Racquel Marais (11), placed third in the U15 200m individual medley.

In another recent gala held at Pecanwood College, Summerhill Preparatory School took first place, Pecanwood College came second and Cooper College and Sagewood School, third and fourth respectively. Oates added, “Coach Kegan Marais has invested many early morning hours in getting our swimmers up to scratch, especially focusing on stamina training.”

Sagewood School’s media centre specialist and marketing coordinator Thandeka Maphumulo said Sagewood School pupils performed exceptionally well in the gala, taking fourth place.
