23 people arrested for reckless and negligent driving

KYALAMI - The Metro police's high-speed unit arrested 23 people for reckless and negligent driving in Kyalami and on the N1 highway over the weekend.

 

A 32-year-old man driving a white BMW M5 and travelling at 138km per hour in a 80km zone near the corner of Main and Zinnia roads in Kyalami was arrested. A 33-year-old motorcyclist was nabbed on the N1 South speeding at 179km per hour in a 120km zone.

Metro police spokesperson, chief superintendent Wayne Minnaar urged motorist to drive safely. “Anyone who does not abide by the rules of the road will be arrested,” Minnaar said.

“The suspects were detained at Midrand Police Station.”

Midrand police spokesperson, Constable Matome Tlamela confirmed that the suspects were detained and then released on R1 000 bail.
