Guru – Peace is possible

KYALAMI – 'It is not the world that needs peace; it is the people. When people are at peace within, the world will be at peace.'

This was the message that more than 500 people attending peace ambassador Prem Rawat’s seminar in Kyalami took home earlier this month.

A simple yet powerful message, Rawat captivated the audience with every word he spoke, provoking deep thought.

Born in India, Rawat has dedicated his life to preaching to the world about peace, a concept he believes the world lacks and is the answer to end the destruction and hate in the world today.

His message is universal and appeals to all kinds of audiences, and is an ideology he has dedicated his life to. “It is up to us common folk to create a world of peace, forget about the angels … or leaders … peace, like every other emotion, is in every individual, they just need to choose it,” he said.

According to the peace guru, the answer to why there is so much violence in the world can be attributed to the lack of understanding of one’s self. “Know yourself, know your gift, know why you are alive. Know yourself not in relation to others,” he said. Rawat added that once people knew who they were and their ultimate purpose on this earth, peace would come naturally.

“My efforts are focused on eliminating the disease, which is fundamentally people not being in touch with themselves, not knowing who they are. If we don’t take care of the disease, the symptoms will never go away. And we all know what the symptoms look like … greed, war, selfishness, violence, and an increasing loss of trust. Peace is a real thing. Peace resides in the heart of every human being. Peace has to emanate from each of us,” he said.

According to Rawat, the majority of people on earth want peace, and if this is true, then peace on earth is a very achievable objective.

It is this hope and belief that has more than one million people reaching out for his message daily.
