Kyalami 12-year-old entertainer to travel to New York Film Academy

KYALAMI - A young entertainer from Kyalami will travel to film and acting school, the New York Film Academy, next year for a two-week summer camp.

Miescha Valadoa will leave for the academy in July, and for the 12-year-old, this is a promising start to her dream to become an entertainer on the international stage.

Valadoa, together with youth ambassador for Cansa, Shae Webb, hosted an event to rasie funds for Valadoa to attend the Arts Talent Showcase in Orlando, Florida, in June next year, selling tickets to a show after the Rugby World Cup final, and offered 20 percent of the takings to the Cansa foundation.

Speaking about her upcoming trip to New York, Valadoa said, “I am very excited to have this opportunity to study there and can’t wait to learn new acting abilities and experience New York in this way.”

Her mother, Tracy said, “Miescha’s ultimate goal is to study at the academy and get into the acting industry in America. She would be happy to be on Broadway or in Hollywood. Her passion is acting and this is what she lives for.”

Blake Babbit from the New York Film Academy said, “Valadoa auditioned for the New York Film Academy in September and was selected to audition after showing adequate experience and a considerable passion for the industry at such a young age. In total, seven artists were accepted into the New York Film Academy summer camp programme.”
