Mrs SA 2016 crowned at glittering grand finale
JOBURG – Candice Abrahams was crowned as the 2016 Schwarzkopf Professional Mrs South Africa at a glittering grand finale at Emperors Palace, Johannesburg.
The swanky affair was hosted by the sensational Bonang Matheba and produced by one of Africa’s leading show producers, Jan Malan. It featured a star-studded guest list of top South African talent and celebrities, dancers and designers, as well as breathtaking entertainment by the electrical string quartet, The Muses.
Schwarzkopf Professional Mrs South Africa is the number one empowerment programme for married women in South Africa. The women involved in the organisation are not only ambitious and successful in their various careers, they are also mothers and wives of different ages and sizes who are doing great work within their respective communities.
The finalists stayed at Emperors Palace for pageant week, 6 to 9 October, where they prepared for the finale’s sensational production and contended for the title of Mrs South Africa 2016.
They showcased fabulous designs from local and international designers, and impressed the celebrity judging panel, which was made up of principal judge, Cindy Nell (Miss South Africa 2003); Riana Mooi (reigning Mrs Globe 2015); Kholofelo Chademanah (Mrs South Africa second princess 2014); Dieter Voigt (Mr South Africa 2007); Melinda Bam (Miss South Africa 2011) and, Vusi Zwane, Peermont Hotel corporate affairs and corporate social investment executive.
The judges unanimously felt that Abrahams best represented her vision among an incredibly talented top 25. Aldytha da Silva was crowned first princess and Marlene Naiker won second princess.
Riandi Conradie, who raised the most funds for Cansa during her tenure as a finalist, was crowned Mrs Charity 2016; and Pamela Marlowe won the Mrs Personality title – voted for by her fellow contestants.
