Heritage Day dials down at 10111

MIDRAND - Gauteng 10111 and Radio Technical Service members celebrated Heritage Day in style with staff given the opportunity to put colour to their day at the command centre in Midrand.

The event started with the centre’s Pastor Sivuyile Maqinyane giving an informative address about the programme for the day.

“Members showed support for the occasion as they were all dressed up in their beautiful attire,” said Captain Pinky Tsinyane, spokesperson for the 10111 service.

Members of staff also cooked traditional food. “There was no competition and no judges, like last year, for the food that was cooked,” said Tsinyane, who added that the spirit of ubuntu was promoted with the sharing of food.

“Every group was requested to [showcase] their traditional dance and [attire]. Five groups, AmaZulu, BaPedi, Matsonga, AmaXhosa and BaVhenda participated,” she said.

“The event went well. At the end of the day, all members joined together and danced to the last song that was performed.”
