Free financial literacy for all

JOBURG - After a report was released by the World Bank highlighting South Africa's indebtedness, the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa is now offering consumers free financial planning education.

The institute will offer the service through the FPI Mymoney123 financial literacy programme, which was started as a way to help consumers better manage their money.

Godfrey Nti, chief executive officer at the institute, highlighted financial stability as being a major problem for many consumers across the country.

[This is further] exacerbated by the ongoing economic pressures which in the end, results in a low savings level and a high debt ratio,” he said.

“Our aim is to help people break the cycle of financial dependency through financial awareness programmes, education and coaching.”

He concluded by giving consumers who are caught in debt some hope on achieving financial freedom.

“It is possible for every South African to thrive, regardless of how much they earn, and our financial planning professionals are ideally suited to show them just how this can be done,” he said.
