Youth Day celebrations in Kaalfontein

KAALFONTEIN - THE Kaalfuntein Community Project organised an event on Youith Day, 16 June, for the community of Kaalfontein and Ivory Park.

Hosted at the Kopanong Sports Centre in Ivory Park, the celebrations were focused on uplifting the community.

“As a team we would like to acknowledge our local supporters which are Ivory Park Police Station, Joseph Mathe from the South African National Council on Alcoholism and Umqhele Comprehensive School,” said Pusetso Motaung, one of the founders of the project.

Local motivational speaker, Bongani Sibisi, provided an inspiring motivational talk for those who came out on the day. The Grannies FC soccer team and traditional dancers Bomme ba setho ensured that there was never a dull moment during the day. “Local entertainers, Imperial records and the band Bleeding Hearts [kept the music pumping,]” said Motaung

On the day, grown-ups were pitted against the youth in various sports, arts and cultural activities, which included dance, netball and poetry. “We aim to bring all the generations together,” said Motaung. “Our hip-hop acts really came to the show by entertaining the crowd with songs relevant to the theme of the day and everyone enjoyed themselves. The Pantsulas, an energetic dance group, prepared a set which was filled with amazing stunts and the people were ecstatic to see this.”

He said the Kaalfuntein team saluted the community for their continuous support, and commended the youth of Tembisa for always willing to showcase their talents on the project’s platform.
