Stage 2 load shedding at 10

JOBURG - Eskom customers can expect more woes as Eskom revealed that they will implement Stage 2 load shedding from 10am to 10pm today.

Eskom twitter handle Eskom Hld SOC Ltd, @Eskom_SA #PowerAlert stated, “We regret to announce that Stage 2 #load_shedding will be implemented from 10am to 10pm today.”

The load shedding has three stages depending on how power needs to be reduced.

Stage 1 – 1 000 MW nationally

Stage 2 – 2 000 MW nationally

Stage 3 – up to 4 000 MW nationally

Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe called on all customers to reduce the load on the electricity grid by urgently switching off geysers, air conditioners, pool pumps and all non-essential appliances throughout the day, which will reduce electricity demand. Phasiwe said, “Commercial customers, particularly shopping centres and office blocks, can also make a big difference by switching off non-essential lights and not leaving office equipment such as photocopiers and computers in standby mode after hours.” Eskom will provide regular updates on the status of the power system throughout the day.”

Eskom customers are advised to check the load shedding schedules which are available on the Eskom website loadshedding.eskom.co.za. Municipal customers were urged to contact their local authorities.
