Parking options for Rock the Run

SANDTON - Organisers of the Hyundai Rock the Run event have made parking arrangements for people who will be attending the event on 1 March.

For the second year, the Hyundai Rock the Run running event that combines running with live music performances will take place at the Mushroom Farm Park in Sandton.

“We are expecting over 8 000 athletes to participate in this race, and with spectators the overall number of attendees will substantially exceed this,” said Francois Marais, the marketing manager at Hyundai Automotive South Africa. “The safety and convenience of all participants and attendees is a critical consideration for us, which is why we wanted to provide the public with an update on the designated parking areas available ahead of this race, as well as parking for race pack collection.”

The race packs will be available and ready for collection prior to the race on 27 February at 10am to 6pm, and 28 February from 10am to 18pm at Sandton City.

The 21km and 10km races start at 7.30am, with the 5km race starting at 7.45am. All participants will need to arrive at least 30 minutes before the starting time. Parking is available throughout the Sandton Central Business District. These include Sandton City, Radisson Gautrain and various Gautrain stations.

Please be aware of the following:

  • No parking will be available in and around the venue (Mushroom Farm Park) on the day of the race (this includes at the start and finish of the race)
  • Due to build up, there is no drop-and-go option in and around Mushroom Farm Park
  • Parking is also not available at Radisson Blu
  • Be sure to avoid these areas and arrive early to secure your parking spot.
