Hospital admits to rat problem

TEMBISA - Hospital officials have admitted that the hospital is having a problem with rats.

This revelation comes after Midrand residents wrote to Midrand Reporter with concerns over an ongoing suspected rat problem at the hospital. Midrand resident Vincent Tshabalala said, “Tembisa as a whole has problems with rats, but we don’t expect this at the hospital where there are sick people.”

Other BBM users Ashlee and Troshka said they heard rumours that the hospital is infested with rats.

The hospital’s spokesperson Lesibana Ledwaba said it has been a problem the hospital has been battling with for a while. He said, “Some sections of the hospital that are near a field experience challenges of rats infestation.”

He stated that the hospital is taking measures to fight the rats. “The hospital’s environmental health practitioner and a pest control service provider are working tirelessly to rid the hospital of rats. Measures have been put in place to monitor the affected areas.”
