Women academy celebrates graduates

MIDRAND - Graduating from the VWV Phakama Academy in Midrand are 25 students.

Chief executive officer of the VWV group Koo Govender said the young graduates are ready to take on the corporate world. The graduates were selected from the University of Johannesburg, the AAA School of Advertising and the Vega School of Brand Leadership. “This is an inspired and confident group of women who are highly motivated to become business women at the forefront of the communication industry. We are proud of their achievements,” said Govender.

This is the first group of graduates from the academy, which initially was launched as a pilot programme. Govender said the programme validates the need for life-skills training for students in every field.

University of Johannesburg student and academy graduate, Lerato Mahlatjie, said she enjoyed being part of the skills programme. “I have learnt to set myself apart and be confident about the decisions I make. I have also enjoyed the sisterhood and friendships we built by being part of the programme, and the knowledge imparted to us.”
