Resident Suzen Raseroka said, “I am appalled by the service, or lack of, my mother and I got at the clinic. My 66-year-old mother was there for chronic medication treatment at 7am, and nurses told her to wait till 12pm noon. Most of the people on chronic medication are too old to wait all day at the clinic.”
Another clinic visitor who did not want to be named, told Midrand Reporter in a video recording that she had waited all day to be attended to. At 3pm she was still waiting and not sure if the nurses would see her. “We have work, sometimes nurses act like we like spending all day at the clinic,” she said.
City of Johannesburg spokesperson, Nkosinathi Nkabinde stated that residents were notified in the Midrand Reporter of the clinic’s hours. She reiterated that chronic patients would be seen first and people with minor illnesses would be attended to after 12 noon at the clinic.
“Midrand West Clinic is undergoing some renovations, we ask that the patients be a little patient. We have increased nursing staff at the clinic to try and reduce the waiting time at the clinic.”
