Motorcyclist dies in fire on N1
MIDRAND - Netcare 911 tweeted a motorcyclist lost his life after his motorcycle rear-ended another car on the N1 highway by Midrand at around 8am on 5 September.
UPDATE: 5 September, 9.40am:
Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinnmann said, “The deceased’s motorcycle rear-ended a motor vehicle on the N1 south bound just past the New Road on-ramp in Midrand.”
“Paramedics arrived on the scene and found that the man had already died. Reports from the incident indicate that, after bumping into a vehicle, the motorcycle fell onto the motorcyclist and burst into flames.”
She said police will investigate the cause of the accident.
5 September, 8.24am:
Netcare 911 said the incident took place on the N1 south-bound near the New Road on-ramp.

Rob Byrne (@TrafficSA) tweeted that an alternative route was the R21 or R24 via the Airport and Gilloolys interchange.
