Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela said the arrest was made after the police received a tip-off.
“Upon the police’s arrival, they found the alleged stolen Mazda bakkie parked in the car park and the driver was inside the vehicle, sitting in the driver’s seat. The police introduced themselves to the man and he was asked to show the police the relevant documents for the vehicle as he said he was the owner of the vehicle,” said Tlamla. The man failed to show the documents to prove ownership.
“The police tested the vehicle and it came out positive for being stolen as per a Hartebeespoort Dam case,” said Tlamela.
She said the man was immediately placed under arrest and he would appear in Alexandra Regional court facing the charges of possession of suspected stolen
motor vehicle.
