Robbers convicted

A suspect was sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment for house robbery and attempted murder at a house on Republic Road in President Park on 13 September 2013.

Midrand police communications officer Constable Matome Tlamela said, “The accused, with his friends robbed his former employer at the house in President Park. During the robbery, the complainant noticed the accused as his former employee among the robbers.”

She said the accused assaulted the complainant using a steel bar and shot at him several times. The complainant was wounded in his abdomen. “Two suspects were arrested, however one of the suspects was not found guilty as charged as he turned state witness during the court proceedings.”

Meanwhile, [name] was convicted for house robbery, attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm at an incident at a house on Summit Road on 8 October 2013.

Tlamela said, “The accused was sentenced to 18 years on count one and 15 years on count two for pointing of firearm and attempted murder.”

Midrand police management and station commander, Colonel Steven Moodley commanded the good work of Detective Sergeant Paul Lekganyane Seshunkwane with his expertise of investigations on both cases.
