Treats for children at Isolezwe

MIDRAND - Toys for Africa and celebrity guests brought smiles to the children at Isolezwe Early Child Development Centre in Kaalfontein.

Current Protea’s women cricket team captain, Mignon du Preez, actor and TV presenter Marco Spaumer, actor and radio personality Francois van Rensburg and Mr South Africa finalist Xavier Mgidlana joined Toys for Africa to give Easter treats and stationery to the children of the daycare centre.

Toys for Africa founder, Danie van Loggerenberg said the organisation and supporters were excited to hand out treats. “We brought Easter treats, toys, stationery and educational puzzles for children at Isolezwe centre and other early child development centres in the area. Most of the children do not have much to look forward to at Easter because they are from disadvantaged homes, today we want to see them smile.”

Mgidlana said he came to spend time with the children as they were an important part of the community. “The children here today are happy with their gifts, this is what children’s daily lives should be like.”

The centre’s founder, Frans Leso said he was excited by the visit from Toys for Africa. “A lot of the children at the day care are not used to receiving gifts, this makes them realise they matter. This visit is good for the children and the day care in the eyes of the community.”

The centre’s principal, Nobubele Mpontshwane said, “We are thankful for the treats and puzzles that Toys for Africa brought to the school for the children, their day has been made special by such generosity.”
