Students excited to be taught culinary skills

MIDRAND - Two students won bursaries for a chef's certificate worth R40 000 each to study at Chef Citrum Khumalo's Culinary Passions School of Hospitality in Midrand.

Thandisile Msawuli from Ivory Park and Phumi Jiyane from Tembisa said they are excited to be doing the course.

“Its exciting to be taught by a great chef,” Msawuli said. “I am thankful I won the bursary, my life looks better now,” explained Jiyane.

“We awarded scholarships to two deserving young people who will study for 1 year 6 months full time. We chose people who have a passion for cooking,” commented Chef Khumalo.

Chef Khumalo added that the culinary school has trained over 100 young people over the past few years. “On completion of the diploma we normally get the students opportunities in Johannesburg or Cape Town to further their skills for 6 months to a year.”
