5 things you need to know that took place in the Oscar trial today

The latest from the Oscar trial.

  1. Barry Roux began his cross examination of former police colonel Giliam van Rensburg today. Roux began by accusing the former colonel of to spare the State the embarrassment of calling to the stand a colleague who had compromised evidence.
  2. Roux was referring to Hilton Botha, the cop who was dropped from the case after he admitted to contaminating evidence at the crime scene.
  3. Roux continued his courtroom assault on van Rensburg (The first officer at the scene) by repeatedly   stating that ‘material facts’ were missing from his initial statement, trying to make it seem as if he had to rely on observations made by Botha.
  4. In an embarrassing admittance, van Rensburg stated that one of the blade runner’s expensive watches went missing from the crime scene and explained how body searches were conducted on all officers at the scene but the watch did not surface.
  5. He then went on to admit that he witnessed one of the ballistic experts pick up the gun that Pistorius used to shoot Steenkamp without protective gloves.
