Midrand’s Connect To Feed partners with an organisation to make a change in the community

Connect To Feed's new partners vow to work with the NPO to further fight malnutrition and provide for underprivileged communities.

In a bid to fight poverty in various poverty-stricken communities, Midrand-based Connect To Feed partnered with Food for Life to host a remarkable feast.

They did this with new partners, Sandton Tigers Cricket Club and Bengali Association of South Africa (BASA) who have both vowed to work with the Midrand NPO.

This happened on September 3 in Ivory Park where over 300 underprivileged children and adults in Ivory Park were given meals and food hampers.

Connect To Feed co-founder Swati Bhagat said the soup and meal drive is an initiative aimed at alleviating hunger and nourishing young souls in underprivileged communities.

She said the profound success of this event was made possible through the unwavering support of BASA and the Cricket Club, forging a harmonious partnership that promises even greater future endeavours.

“The journey began with a vision to make a difference in the lives of those who needed it most. Connect to Feed, with its dedicated and compassionate volunteers, worked tirelessly to organise this heartwarming event. Their commitment to creating positive change shone through every step of the way. Food for Life, renowned for its commitment to eradicating hunger, and its dedication to providing nourishing meals for those in need was a beacon of hope for the children of Ivory Park,” said Bhagat.

BASA president Gourish Chakravorty said he was impressed with the new partnership. “We are thrilled and excited about the programme. It gives us as BASA immense joy to feed the people who need food. This initiative has shown that there is more responsibility to do more. We commit ourselves that we would like to continue with this initiative because if we come here for one day only will not serve the purpose,” said Chakravorty.

Cricket club treasurer Navnith Pillay said, “The club has been initiated with the purpose, and one of the purposes is to give back to the community because we are privileged enough, but that we want to give back to the communities. We want to nature the young talent in the areas like this and see if there are no players to nature so one day they can perhaps play in the Proteas [South African men’s cricket national team].”

Pillay concluded that he was pleased with the turnout and wanted the initiative to grow and ensure that it reaches further heights.
