Footwear founder from Halfway Gardens pleased with business growth

Kabelo Selekolo said he is currently focusing on further expanding the brand and aims to make his sneaker brand a household name.

After his interview with Midrand Reporter earlier this year, Kabelo Selekolo believes his stylish sneaker business is booming.

Selekolo (33) from Haldfway Gardens, said he wishes to express his sincere gratitude for his sneaker business, called Mswenko [Stylish] Footwear.

He said since then he and his team are now in the process of introducing new colours and sizes for the stylish and loose sneakers that will be available later this year.

Selekolo added that he was thrilled to share that he has recently been nominated for both the Founder of the Year Awards and the African Business Awards.

He said their upward trajectory is pointing in the right direction.

“Shortly after the launch of Mswenko, we encountered hesitant potential customers who were interested in our product but held back due to negative past experiences online. Thanks to the profiling you conducted for us, in addition to coverage from other media outlets, we have managed to establish a credible reputation and instil trust in our online presence. This has translated into customers making purchases from different provinces without any lingering doubts,” said Selekolo.

He said he was focusing on addressing the challenges of distribution and working to further expand the brand.
The aim is to make his sneaker brand a household name.

His desire comes from running various businesses such as selling books, and watches, running online magazines, and developing websites and logos for small businesses, before turning his focus to his latest venture, Mswenko Footwear.

Selekolo said the idea of footwear began in 2014 when he had his first job.

He officially conducted his research and developed the sneakers in December 2021, and launched on October 18, 2022.
