Grade 9 learner from Midrand High remembered at the memorial service

The learner, Sphelele Khuzwayo, was described as a jovial young boy by different speakers.

Emotions ran high at the memorial service of a Grade 9 learner at Midrand High School, who allegedly committed suicide.

Sphelele Khuzwayo (15) allegedly took his own life on August 31, at his home in Noordwyk.

It is unclear what triggered the teenager to take his own life.

The school held a memorial service on September 7, where he was described as a jovial young boy by different speakers.

Midrand High School hall was packed to the rafters by Sphelele’s peers, parents and teachers.

The bereavement of the learner is scheduled for September 9, at the Waterfall City Cemetery.

The Midrand Reporter has spoken to the family about the ordeal.
