R100 000 up for grabs for high schools at the annual national high schools quiz

The quiz, which consists of three rounds, will be run digitally at each venue via the Kahoot App, and participants will need a smartphone or tablet to answer the questions.

Grade 9, 10, and 11 learners’ knowledge of subjects ranging from geography, history, science and nature, sport, entertainment, and current affairs will be tested during the much-anticipated annual National High Schools’ Quiz.

Questions are designed to reflect the latest trends in academia and to challenge learners to put their critical thinking caps on, The IIE’s Varsity College’s National High Schools Quiz is more than just a competition.

It is a platform that brings together the brightest young minds across the country, allowing them to showcase their knowledge and compete with like-minded peers.

The quiz, which consists of three rounds, will be run digitally at each venue via the Kahoot App, and participants will need a smartphone or tablet to answer the questions.

The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall campus head Avadhi Ghela said the excitement for this year’s National High Schools’ Quiz is already building up to be a huge success.

“What a great way for the learners to challenge themselves on how up-to-date they are on current affairs and for the schools to showcase their talent. We look forward to hosting the quiz’s regional round and then the National Grand Finale on our campus. May the best team win.”

The first round will take place on September 6, on all eight of The IIE’s Varsity College campuses and entries closes on August 18.

The top 10 learners from each campus event will advance to a regional final to be held in Sandton, KZN, Nelson Mandela Bay, and Cape Town.

The top eight learners from the regional finals will meet at the National Grand Finale to be held at the Waterfall campus on October 14.

Participants, teachers or coaches, and schools across the country stand a chance to win great prizes too.

The eight national finalists will each receive a Samsung tablet as well as a cash prize of R2 500.

Each national finalist’s teacher or coach will receive an R500 retail voucher, and the national winner will receive a cash prize of R10 000.

The national winner’s school will receive a cash prize of R10 000, and the national winner’s teacher or coach will receive a cash prize of
R5 000.

High schools across the country are encouraged to register their Grade 9, 10, and 11 learners for the National High School Quiz.

The application form will be available on The IIE’s Varsity College Website — www.varsitycollege.co.za and will be accompanied by the quiz rules and the terms and conditions.
