Midrand police donate 50 blankets to three homes

The police donated 14 blankets to the home before making their second stop in President-Park-based New Life Centre and Tumelo Home for the Mentally Handicapped where they donated 15 and 21 blankets respectively.

As the chilly weather settles in, Midrand police donated 50 blankets to three orphanages in the area.

Yenzani Children’s Home in Noordwyk, New Life Centre for Girls and Tumelo Home for the Mentally Handicapped were the beneficiaries on June 15.
The handout started at Yenzani where the donation party was joined by Midrand Sector 3 Crime Forum chairperson Marvin Maphiri.

They donated 14 blankets to the home before making their way to the President-Park-based New Life Centre where they handed over 15 blankets.
The last stop was at Tumelo where they were taken on a tour of the home before donating 21 blankets.

The project coordinator at Yenzani, Vanessa Hale thanked the men and women in blue uniforms for taking time out of their busy schedules.
“On behalf of the children, I just want to say a huge thank you to the Midrand SAPS. We are grateful for taking the time to come to donate and take care of the community at large. It’s been a cold winter and our home is very cold. I can assure you that these blankets will go a long way in keeping our children warm and comfortable,” said Hale.

Founder and director of New Life Centre which homes 20 girls, Khupotso Nakin said they were grateful for the donation of blankets.
“Our home is very cold but with the blankets, we will be warm. Thank you Midrand Police Station for the support, may this relationship grow [bigger and better]. May God bless you and continue to provide for you so you can continue to be a blessing to us and others,” said Nakin.

Administrator at Tumelo Hope, Letty Matabne said, “It means a lot because the blanket is life and blankets are an integral part of lives. They will go beyond this winter to keep our users warm and comfortable. On behalf of the management, staff and residents of Tumelo Home in President Park, I would like to thank the police for the generous donation of blankets. Their continued participation in social upliftment projects is highly appreciated.”
