He said the main message of the song is a perfect depiction of being yourself and living up to your character, as these two artists are demonstrating unapologetically. “Reggie Madawg raps about his lifestyle now, recently having a baby while balancing his life as an artist with his unique cadence and flow. He clearly states we are now ‘the best up in SA’ in the song Faries,” said Perumal.

He said the song can be classified as hip hop despite having many elements including old-school R&B, new wave hip hop and soulful rhythm. Perumal said working on the song was fun and felt effortless and natural. He then sent the track to Reggie to record, right down to the final mix of the music video.

“The challenge we had was to get a location for the music video. Being independent artists, we’ve had to make do with what we have for videos. Interestingly, my mother is a property agent so I thought we could use one of her empty show houses in Waterfall Equestrian to shoot the video. Reggie Madawg suggested we could shoot in Centurion at a local corner store with his crew as well. So that’s what we did! We love giving new content to our fans, so we always make sure we take the time to find the best quality locations and scenery in all of our music videos,” added Perumal.

When asked what his fans and followers can expect from him in terms of music; he said they can expect a lot of masterpieces. The hip hop/rap genre- popularly known as Trap music-composer said he also enjoys experimenting with other genres like amapiano and various kinds of house music.
