Noordwyk Secondary School sets sight on 100% pass mark

Grade 12 learners from Noordwyk High School are determined to work harder as they aim to achieve a 100% pass rate.

While other learners enjoyed the school calendar’s first recess, Grade 12 learners from Noordwyk High School were hard at work.

This is in a bid to achieve a 100% pass mark this year. The school’s matric Class of 2022 achieved a 94.7% pass rate, with its 246 learners achieving 103 distinctions.

Grade 12 coordinator at Noordwyk Secondary School Tshenolo Rosinah Zwane hopes the school will achieve 100% pass rate this year.

Grade 12 coordinator at the school Tshenolo Rosinah Zwane said the matric class this year was bigger.
“We have 296 learners and this is the biggest number we have ever had. We praying and doing all these programmes for us to achieve 100%. Our results have been at 96.4 or 95% and we are trying to break the cycle,” said Zwane.

She said the Grade 12 syllabus would be completed by June so the learners would have time for revision. Zwane added from May 5, they would hold Saturday classes for the matrics and on Sundays, there would be extra lessons in accounting, maths and physics.
A Grade 12 learner Simphiwe Ndlovu (18) said the matric year so far had been demanding.
“We are working hard to achieve all our expectations and potential. In terms of work, I think it’s going well. We have access to a lot of equipment to make this year easier for us. Matric is tough in terms of work but the syllabus of Grade 12 is easier than Grade 11 in my opinion. The only thing we don’t have is time.”

Noordwyk Secondary School’s Simphiwe Ndlovu and Prince Nxumalo shake hands during the recent Easter classes.

Ndlovu added support from parents, teachers and peers would be fundamental.
