A successful NGO Wellness Day at IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall

Students were able to get healthcare services at the WITS RHI mobile clinic, sign up as volunteers, and donate blood.

IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall hosted a successful NGO Wellness Day with guests from various organisations.

Among the organisations present on March 24 were the South African Blood Donation Services, DKMS (Bone Marrow Donor Centre), Botshabelo Children’s Home, Cansa sprayathon, Society for Animals in Distress, and Wits RHI mobile clinic.

As part of the Cansa sprayathon, student volunteer body members Motsokwane Thatelo and Avantika Arjoon sprayed their colleagues’ hair in exchange for donations to the cancer association.
Students were also able to access healthcare services at the Wits RHI mobile clinic, sign up as volunteers, donate blood (30 units were donated on the day), and have their HIV/Aids status tested.

“My favourite part of the NGO Wellness Day was raising money for the Cansa sprayathon. This day inspired me to make friends on campus and be aware of the good deeds we as students can do by getting involved with NGOs,” said Thatelo.
