Keratilwe Zindela beat the odds to become a confident and driven model

The model describes her four-year journey as a model as fulfilling, amazing, and educational as she got to learn to handle situations differently.

A child’s dreams can be a powerful way to express feelings and ideas that cannot be expressed verbally. Parents play a crucial role during their child’s personal and educational development as well as their children’s career.

In high school, Keratilwe Zindela, a local model had low self-esteem. However, after discovering that she wanted to be a model and with the support of her parents she has become a confident and driven individual who is working to become the greatest model of her generation.

“I’ve always wanted to model from my early childhood but my shyness and low self-esteem plagued me as I grew up, so I was never able to believe in myself,” said Zindela.

Keratilwe Zindela (19) says her parents have been her biggest inspiration.

“Then one day, when I was doing Grade 11 at William Hills Secondary School, a guy came to our school interested in hosting pageants. When he was telling us about his pageants, I was struggling with my inner self, but eventually faced my fear and it worked out well.”

The 19-year-old model won those pageants and was crowned Miss High School 2020/21.

This was her first modelling accolade as she went on to win the Best Ramp in Miss Boksburg 2021, the queen title in the Elite Kings and Queens 2022/23, second princess in Miss Passionate Gauteng 2022/23 and she is currently a finalist in the Face of Devotion South Africa pageant.

“I really appreciate the support and love my parents give me and most importantly I’d love to thank them for believing in me. My mom Dineo Zindela is my number-one supporter and had my back from day one when I told her I want to be a model and she has been there for me ever since.”

Keratilwe describes her four-year journey as a model as fulfilling, amazing, and educational as she got to learn to handle situations differently.

“It is very crucial for other local children to get involved in such activities. Modelling does not only teach one how to walk and look beautiful but it also teaches young stars respect, and how to love and value themselves.”

Besides her desire to win Face of Devotion and Miss Waterfall, she mostly seeks to help local children with extra activities as she plans to work with the ward councillor to voice the importance of activities.

Currently, she is focusing on bettering her public speaking skills and most importantly her studies as she continues to make her parents proud.
