Midrand Sports Academy grabbed a win in the Randburg 100-ball tournament

MSA captain, Rishik Vadlamuri, and his team were hungry for victory since their first match in the tournament.

Midrand Sports Academy’s (MSA) 99-run win against Sandton Cricket U9 brought the first win for the club in the Randburg 100 tournament.
Sandton was restricted to 96/5 in 100 balls.

October 30 was always going to be a key day for both Sandton and MSA in the 100-ball tournament as both teams had faced each other in a couple of games in the off-season.

MSA captain Rishik Vadlamuri and his team were hungry for victory and he led the team with the bat scoring his maiden century off 67 balls.

MSA coach Ryan Maps-Munyama said, “It is exciting to see one of our teams claiming victory in the tournament and to see Rishik scoring the first century for the academy. He has been consistent with his bat scoring a couple of half-centuries lately.”

Maps-Munyama said the decision to make Rishik captain of the junior side was supported by his performance and commitment and it was a wise decision. “I believe with his leadership and teamwork, our team will accomplish more in the future.”

Leading the team in defending 195 runs were Tharun Waran and Anjana Ashok who made it difficult for the opposition batters to score, taking two wickets each with an economy of less than three with the support of their teammates.

Details: The academy is always on the lookout for players and coaches interested in joining. Those who want to join are advised to contact 072 908 8701.
