Midrand NPO to host final drive of the year in December

As part of their final drive for 2022, Connect to Feed will re-visit Bula Mahlo Orphanage in Tembisa in partnership with Curro Midrand, to donate Christmas items on December 4.

Midrand-based NPO Connect to Feed Foundation will conduct its final initiative for the year in conjunction with Food For Life and Curro Midrand Halfway Gardens campus.

They will visit the Bula Mahlo (Open your eyes) orphanage in Tembisa on December 4 to donate clothes, toys and many other needed items to make a festive season to remember for about 300 children.
Founder of the foundation Upama Srivastava said they had done many charity drives for orphanages, shelters, the homeless and old age homes in Johannesburg.

“Our goal is to spread happiness. This was a successful year in helping the needy and seeing smiling faces. We were able to achieve our goal because of all the support that we got from the team, volunteers and donors,” added Srivastava.
The organisation visited the orphanage in June this year to donate food and toys.
“We felt the kids needed our help when we went for the last drive. We want to help them again and provide Christmas gifts to 300 kids in Tembisa and make them smile. We want to thank all our donors and request them to provide their continuous support.”

Dr Vanitha Govindasamy, head of Curro Midrand Halfway Gardens campus, said Srivastava approached the school to partner with the foundation.

“We certainly would like to embark on future outreach programmes with Connect to Feed and believe that the foundation is doing an extraordinary job in wanting to make a difference in the community and South Africa at large. We believe that we have attained a partner for life and will continue to support this NPO the best that we can,” said Govindasamy.

She concluded that through such initiatives, learners learnt to value the importance of giving back and developing empathy.
