Total Football Excellence trash Velocity 6–1

Total Football Excellence are making their intentions and ambitions felt to clinch the title as they walloped Velocity Football Academy.

Rand Central Local Football Association log leaders Total Football Excellence‘s U19 soccer team from Midrand drubbed Velocity Football Academy 6–1 in an action-packed and goals-galore game.

The game was played at Curro Waterfall on October 9.

Excellence made their intentions clear when they scored in the first minute of the game after a sloppy defending from Velocity’s defence and goalkeeper Arnold Okeke, which gave Jonah Jager an easy tap in from close range.

Right winger from the home team Nigel Tsoka was a menace to the visitors as he kept on cutting through their defence with a blistering pace to try getting crosses for Jager.

Velocity had a chance of their own but did not take it as Mpilenhle Mosito rattled the crossbar with a sting short after being let lose by Excellence’s defence.

Four minutes later, Kabelo Maja slotted the home side’s third goal after Velocity failed to clear their line to take a comfortable 3–0 lead into the interval.

After half-time, Excellence continued with their dominance and Daniel Moyo scored the fourth goal in the 54th minute. Two minutes later, there was a big confusion between Okeke and his defenders after Tsoka delivered a low, yet hard, cross which ended in the back of their net.

At 20 minutes from full-time, Tsoka made a solo run as he dribbled past five players to score with his left foot as Excellence were six goals up.

However, complacency from Excellence led to Velocity scoring a consolation goal at the stroke of full-time when captain Akaziwe Ntombela scored a well-taken free-kick from the edge of the big box.
The win keeps Excellence at the summit of the log with four games to spare, while second-placed Stars of Africa are hot on their heels for the championship.
