IIE Varsity College Waterfall visits Midrand Primary School as part of the Khumo project

The Waterfall campus will undertake a variety of projects, including an enhanced library and possibly adding JoJo tanks at the school.

The IIE Varsity College Waterfall campus partnered with Noorwyk Primary School, Through the Khumo project, to ensure sustainable development.

As part of the project, learners from the Waterfall campus visited the primary schoolā€™s grades R, 1, and 2 learners on July 22.

IIEā€™s Varsity College and IIE MSA recently launched Khumo ā€“ Kid Heroes Under the Mentorship of Others. Each campus will partner with a primary school for the next two years. Khumo means wealth ā€“ fitting for what the project will do, as the IIEā€™s Varsity College and the IIE MSA want to share their wealth of knowledge and resources to educate and mentor young minds.

The project is focused on community upliftment through local empowerment. By enlisting the help of learners, staff, and the expertise of lecturers, the project will partner with local schools to get involved and collaborate in projects that speak to the specific needs identified by the school.

During its visit to Noordwyk Primary School, IIEā€™s Waterfall brought packed snack lunch boxes for the learners. There were also some fun activities such as face painting, music, soccer and a picnic.

The IIE Waterfall campus will initiate a variety of projects, including enhancing the school’s library and possibly incorporating JoJo tanks to avoid having to close the school when water runs out.

Public relation and events co-ordinator from IIEā€™s Varsity College Waterfall Nicolien Kriek said,
ā€œEach IIE Varsity College and the IIE MSA campus will embark on a wide variety of projects which will utilise the time and talents of its people who are passionate about ensuring sustainable development and making a real impact in local communities.ā€
