Local swimming pool nears completion for Region A residents

The summer heat could be felt less this year if the region's swimming pool is completed in time.

If all goes according to plan, an R43-million swimming pool in Region A could be unveiled in summer.

In a statement, Region A’s sports and recreation department said residents of Ivory Park and neighbouring areas would enjoy the Ivory Park swimming pool come summertime.

The swimming pool complex is nearing completion according to the City of Johannesburg, Region A, Citizen Relationship and Urban Management.

“[The 50m x 33m pool] is located in Ward 111 on Freedom Drive in Ivory Park. The Ivory Park Swimming Pool Complex, once completed, will be equipped with an Olympic-style swimming pool and splash pool with a grandstand for spectators, a kiddies pool and changing facilities,” read the statement.

The swimming pool will supplement the various developments that have been taking place in Region A. These include the ongoing Kaalfontein multipurpose centre, Ivory Park public environment upgrades and the recently upgraded Kaalfontein Clinic by the Johannesburg Development Agency.
