Local NPO to warmly dress needy children this cold weekend

Local Connect To Feed NPO to brave the weekend cold, and hand out winter items to the destitute children of Ivory Park.

With cold temperatures expected to hit below 0 degrees heading toward the weekend in Gauteng, a local NPO will distribute winter clothes to the destitute children in Ivory Park.

The Midrand-based organisation, Connect To Feed, said preparations for the upcoming handover ceremony on June 19 were on track and ready to warm up the needy this winter.

One of the organisation’s founders, Swati Bhagat, said almost all the items mentioned in their list have been purchased – including school uniforms, blankets, shoes and socks. They have arranged for the following items – cooking oil, maize meal, rice, milk, sanitary pads and washing and bath soaps among other needed items.

“The preparation for the June 19 drive toward Tembisa Tots home is progressing. Our Connect to Feed team has managed to arrange funds for groceries, toiletries and hygienic items for the 33 children – 11 girls and 22 boys. The team would like to immensely thank all for the contributions and donations.”

The team has also managed to get a patron who will be arranging a cake for the kids of the home and balloon sculpting activity will be done by Amazing Events for their entertainment.

Bhagat requests everyone from the community to come forward and donate as much as they can.

For those who still wanted to donate other items, they still accept old toys and clothes provided they are in a good condition and should be brought to them before June 17.

Last month, on May 8, the organisation provided food parcels and already prepared meals for mothers and children in Ivory Park as part of Mother’s Day celebrations.
