Midrand police arrest a male suspect after shooting his wife’s side-boyfriend

“Despite his attempts to flee, the victim had to stop due to fear for his life, and then was shot in the legs by the suspect,” says Midrand police spokesperson.

A male suspect was arrested by Midrand police on May 16, following the shooting of his wife’s side-boyfriend at a local five-star hotel.

Midrand police spokesperson Constable Eliot Mabulane says the suspect suspected his wife was cheating on him with another man, so he tracked her down.

“The suspect pretended to be friends with the victim on WhatsApp. Upon arrival at the hotel where the victim and the suspect’s wife were booked in, the victim came out to meet him and noticed that the suspect was carrying a firearm and is married to the woman he is cheating with,” said Mabulane

“Despite his attempts to flee, the victim had to stop due to fear for his life, and then was shot in the legs by the suspect.”

The suspect was later arrested by Midrand police and charged with attempted murder and is due to appear in court.

Station Commander for Midrand police Brigadier Molefi David Tsotsotso has condemned such conduct where licensed firearms are used in the commission of crimes, and not for the purpose in which they should serve.

The firearm has been confiscated and booked in for ballistic tests at the Midrand station.
