Christ Church achieves greatness at public speaking festival

BRYANSTON – Open public speaking team members Makungu Chabalala, Jennifer Baillie, Caleb Pillay, and Kamogelo Khumalo return victorious with an A+ after competing at The Kings College.

Christ Church Preparatory School and College open public speaking team excelled in the Public Speaking Festival hosted by The Kings College on February 16.

The team was made up of Grade 12s who chose ‘Where is normal’ as their topic of choice.

School marketing manager Dawn Schmitz said the team chair Makungu Chabalala delivered the opening statement.

“The adjudicator congratulated Makungu on his excellent contact with the audience from the onset and said he was an excellent chairperson who had a natural flair for public speaking.” Schmitz added that Jennifer Baillie was the second of four speakers, and she was congratulated by the adjudicator on an excellent rapport with the audience.

“The third speaker was Caleb Pillay who was described as a vibrant speaker, and the final speaker was Kamogelo Khumalo who was described as having a great personality and entertained his audience.”
