Reggie Madawg talks about new project

COUNTRY VIEW – Reginald Vuyiswa Thomo said the project was inspired by music that influenced him and his personal day-to-day life.

Reginald Vuyiswa Thomo, better known as Reggie Madawg, recently released his long-awaited EP (extended play), Day In Day Out.

The multi-talented producer, songwriter, rapper, and vocalist from Country View said his sound stemmed from his creative vision combined with all the music he was influenced by.
Thomo said the EP was inspired by his day-to-day life experiences, which was recording and recording other artists, and trying to make it on his own as an independent artist.

“The issues that I go through in my family also inspired the body of work, including what I want to do and how I want to be perceived… I do not want to be commercial, instead I want the world to know this is me and who I am and this is the sound. I want to inspire the youth and the older generation.”

Thomo touched upon one of his popular songs on his project, Madawg Freestyles. The musician said the song’s title was part of his name and represented him because everywhere he went people called him Madawg.
“Madawg is a homie, a friendly guy, he is everybody’s person, and he is approachable, so the freestyle was random.

“I got the beat from a 12-year-old music producer named Khumo The Producer. The next day, I decided to jump on it. Funnily enough, it was the day before the looting began, I just got in the booth and I took it on in one take.”

Thomo said people in the studio went crazy over the song although he never liked it much.
“Till today, I am still trying to like it but everybody else likes it. And through that I was reminded that I am not just doing this for myself, I am doing this for the rest of the world.
“And if the world likes it I need to give it out, I cannot be selfish about it.”

Thomo concluded that he would promote the EP, do a radio tour, release music videos and go on a tour.
