Suspects arrested for possession of suspected stolen goods

NOORDWYK – Midrand Police Station commander Brigadier David Tsotsotso commended the officials involved in the arrest of the suspects for their 'great work and dedication'.

Six suspects aged between the 22 and 35 years old were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property on January 20.

Midrand Police Station spokesperson Constable Eliot Mabulane said the suspects were arrested on the corner of Olifantsfontein and Lever roads in Noordwyk around 23:00 by the crime prevention police unit. The unit was under the command of the acting visible policing commander, Lieutenant Colonel Tiger Sibisi.

“This was after a Volkswagen Polo and an Opel Corsa bakkie were reported to be suspicious … The bakkie was identified as being fully loaded with alleged stolen equipment and males. The police stopped the two vehicles, however, the bakkie [sped] off and only the Polo was cornered and six males were apprehended,” said Mabulane.

Mabulane added that during the preliminary investigation, the suspects failed to give a satisfactory reason as to how the property came to be in their possession. The suspects were immediately arrested for possession of the suspected stolen property.

“The police did not stop there. The investigation continued and led them to recover a massive sound system belonging to a church located in Kaalfontein and Olievenhoutbosch.”

Midrand Police Station commander Brigadier David Tsotsotso commended the officials involved in the arrest of the suspects for their ‘great work and dedication’.

All the suspects will appear before the Midrand Magistrates Court to answer to all charges brought against them.
