Both learners want to pursue careers in engineering.

Their teacher Ncedo Maseko, who entered his learners into the competition, also received top honours and was named Grade 8 and 9 Maths Champion Teacher 2021.

Maseko said, “Our approach to the competition was to encourage learners and make them aware that getting the sums wrong is fine, it’s all part of the learning journey. But they needed to practise and repeat the sums until they mastered them. Each learner had to score above 90% in their assignment.”
