Local NPO calls on residents to assist with donations for elderly

MIDRAND – Upama Srivastava, founder of Connect To Feed, said they need 55 blankets among other items to help the elderly get through winter warmly.

A local non-profit organisation has called on Midrand community members to assist their drive towards assisting an old-age home in India.

Upama Srivastava, founder of Connect To Feed, said the drive will take place on December 20.
Srivastava was born in India and plans to visit in December this year, which was why they decided to give back to the elderly people there.

“A new old age home has been established in my home town, as it is new and it is not properly set up, it also lacks many basics meant for day-to-day living,” Srivastava said.
“I came to know about this home via my family members in India and this is how we as the Connect To Feed team discussed and decided to help the old age home in,” she added.
Srivastava said that they would utilise the month of November to raise funds for the drive.

She added that they plan to distribute some warm clothes and blankets to the old age home to keep the elderly warm as it will be cold in India in December.

The tems they need are:
• 55 blankets
• Plastic chairs and tables
• 55 mattresses
• Clothes made of wool
• Socks and beanies
• 10 heaters
• Medicine and supplements
• Bedsheets
• Walking sticks.
