The club held friendly matches, on August 21, between their three teams – the Legends (older girls), Born Frees (open team) and U17s – as a means to promote teamwork and create awareness of the sport among the local residents.

Head coach, Thato Pieterse, who is also part of the team coordinating the new league, said they wanted to start the league because they had enough teams in Midrand to do so.

“Currently, we are a part of the Rabie Ridge Netball League, so when we have to play games we have to go all the way that side. But once we have a league this side, we will be able to invite teams to come to play together with us here and then our league will compete in the regionals,” Pieterse added.

“Those interested in joining our team can contact me or our team’s assistant coach, Lindi Mgweba. Those who want to join the league could contact me to register for the league. We train on Friday’s at 17:30 and on Saturdays from 07:30 in the morning at Noordwyk Secondary School.”
