WATCH: South African Police Service launch their vaccination drive

ORLANDO – About 1000 officers take the vaccine at the official launch of the SAPS vaccine drive.

The South African Police Service launched its vaccination drive at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on July 5. Police Minister Bheki Cele and the National Commissioner Khehla Sitole were present along with police officers and members of the service across the country. According to Cele, more than 180 000 officers will be vaccinated starting on July 5, ensuring the health and safety of law enforcement officials as the Covid-19 pandemic’s third wave tears through the country. The minister and commissioner were joined by Acting Health Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi who encouraged officers to come in their numbers to get the jab. The police will receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccination and are hoping to conclude their drive as soon as possible.
