Suspects nabbed for possession of firearms

IVORY PARK – Two men are facing charges for possession of unlicensed firearms, one of which belong to a police officer.


Two men were arrested in Kaalfontein for the alleged possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition on 8 March.

According to Captain Bernard Matimulane, spokesperson for the Ivory Park Police Station, the two men aged 23 and 29 were arrested for being in possession of three unlicensed firearms and ammunition. One of these was identified as belonging to a Metro police officer.

Matimulane added that the two men were originally from Tembisa and had previously been on the run from the law.

“One of the suspects is on bail for another possession of an unlicensed firearm case in Pretoria for which he must still stand trial,” he said.

Matimulane added that the two were expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrates’ Court to answer to charges of illegal possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, the Ivory Park Police Station Commander welcomed the arrest.
